Our Five Guiding Principles

At the heart of our brand lies a set of guiding principles that define how we approach challenges, create opportunities and drive impactful outcomes. These principles reflect our commitment to innovation, strategic thinking and empowering both our business and our people.

1. Drive business value

Principles

Every Digital Enablement initiative must have a clearly identified and broadly supported business value.

Rationale
  • Avoid at any cost technology for technology-sake; newer technology does not equal greater business value, unless proven.
  • Business value will be primarily articulated as one or more of the following key drivers:
    • Lower operating costs
    • Faster business cycle-time
    • Greater customer, supplier, and employee experience
    • Employee productivity and engagement

2. Think big implement small

Principles

Think big, implement small: we will apply an iterative approach to minimize business risk and generate value faster.

Rationale
  • Prevent false positives (that is, investing in capabilities that, in the end, don’t generate business value).
  • Agile methodology, when applicable, provides early delivery of value, continual improvement, and rapid response to change.
  • Scope creep is one of the reasons why 73% of digital transformations fail; Agile Methodology helps prevent that, by design.

3. Pull vs. push model

Principles

No mandates of digital capabilities adoption; pull vs. push model, based on strong business value propositions.

Rationale
  • Business Units and Functions are driven by business results; if they see value, they will embrace and adopt the new digital solutions.
  • This approach raises the bar for the organization and makes it stronger and better; it fosters dialogue and alignment.
  • Mandates from the top must be used carefully; might be disempowering, dilute accountability, and disenfranchise people.

4. Establish a baseline

Principles

Before making any digital transformation intervention, we will baseline where we stand at present (cost and/or performance)

Rationale
  • It’s impossible to determine the improvement being made if we don’t know the starting point.
  • In Digital Transformations there is a high risk of perceptions vs. factual, data-based assessments.
  • We get what we measure: the baseline helps prioritize and identify the right Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

5. Foster talent growth & digital autonomy

Principles

Grow talent and capabilities, through learning-by-doing, for ECCBC to become autonomous in digital transformation going forward.

Rationale
  • Reduce reliance on consultants, and expensive consulting costs, by building broad-based “ECCBC Digital Savviness”.
  • Create the empowerment and know-how for everyone to proactive player in identifying digital opportunities.
  • Learning-on-the-job is a most effective way to build skills and know-how, while delivering business results.
  • Empower employees (subject matter expert) with No IT-Coding Skills to deliver solutions for solving their business problems at speed.
